Some say, "Math is hard and difficult to understand," but the only key to understand it is to SOLVE, SOLVE, SOLVE. Like me, myself, for example, I did not like Math in my early years in Elementary, but as I saw the beauty of it especially in applying its concepts into our real world scenarios, I learned to love and cherish it. I also committed mistakes in my solutions, but I kept on solving again and again till I arrive to the correct answer. Don't be afraid to arrive in a wrong solution. Remember, mistakes are normal; just strive again and you'll learn better! From then on, I made solving Math problems as my hobby.

Exploring Mathematics is fun and interesting! As you go through this subject, you will be encountering chunks of mathematical concepts that are very useful in solving our day-to-day problems. Be amazed how sequences and patterns evolved and being portrayed in realistic world; construct graphs and appreciate their multifarious, peculiar forms; discover the wonders of circle, chords, tangents, secants, and their respective properties which are ultimately utilized in various forms of construction; solve probabilities of chances in order to assess desired outcomes; and, conduct simple statistical research with statistical analysis.

All these and more awaits you! Start now your journey in the wonderful realm of Mathematics.

Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as their only creed and hold certain fundamental beliefs to be the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. These beliefs, as set forth here, constitute the church’s understanding and expression of the teaching of Scripture for we consider the conviction of SOLA SCRIPTURA- the Bible as the only standard of faith and practice for Christian.

Currently, Adventists hold 28 fundamental beliefs that can be organized into six categories—the doctrines of God, man, salvation, the church, the Christian life and last day events. In each teaching, God is the architect, who in wisdom, grace and infinite love, is restoring a relationship with humanity that will last for eternity.

These beliefs are meant to permeate your whole life. Growing out of scriptures that paint a compelling portrait of God, you are invited to explore, experience and know the One who desires to make us whole

Introduction:

In many real-life situations, there are quantities that depend on one or more variables. For example, the amount of salary an employee receives in a month depends on the number of days he or she works. The general grade point average of a student is determined by his or her grades in all of his or her subjects. Similarly, the monthly electricity bill of a household is determined by the number of kilowatts it consumed for a given month. In mathematics, the relationship between two distinct quantities based on a definite rule is referred to as a function.

A function indicates how the value of one quantity affects the value of the other. You say that y is a function of x if the value of quantity y is determined by the value of quantity x. This dynamic characteristic of a function serve as a building block of constructing mathematical models which express the relationships among real-world quantities in mathematical notations. Thus, it is essential for you to have a firm understanding of the concepts underpinning functions.

This unit presents a comprehensive discussion on the properties, graphs, and behavior of various types of functions. It also includes relevant applications of functions in real-life situations. The modules in this unit are arranged from the basic to the more advanced topics to sustain your interest that consequently leads to achieving a deep understanding of the important concepts on functions and their properties and applications. These are tables, graphs, and illustrations to meet your needs and learning styles. The exercises have various types and levels of difficulty and they include manipulation of real-life tools and technologies.

This module starts by giving you the basic information about texts because your awareness of the nature of texts will guide you in making decisions as to how you can make your reading and writing more worthwhile and effective.

The first lesson is about text as connected discourse. In this lesson you will learn that texts are not only a collection of words, phrases, and sentences, but somethings that tells about one central idea. When you have understood that a text is a connected discourse, you will start to become conscious of how each of your sentences relate to the other sentences in your writing. This awareness will lead you to pay attention to the properties of a well-written text – unity, organization, coherence, and cohesiveness, appropriate language use, and mechanics. These considerations are essential in making your own writing clear and useful to readers like yourself.

The second lesson deals with the connection between reading and writing. You will find out in this module how reading and writing are intertwined with each other, which means that the absence of one will make the other unachievable. Your knowledge of the processes of reading and writing will help you discover and internalize the techniques in selecting and organizing information whenever you either read or write. In reading, you will be learning how to select and reorganize important information or ideas in the text that you will be reading through while working with graphic organizers. While in writing, you will be determining the text structure employed in each of the given texts for you to become familiar with the patterns of development in writing and be able to use them whenever any of them is appropriate for the kind of writing that you need to do.

Each of the patterns of development – narration, description, definition, exemplification /classification, comparison and contrast, cause and effect, problem-solution, and persuasion – is presented separately in each of the succeeding lessons from lesson 3 through 10. In studying the patterns of development, you will be performing tasks that will help you learn how to read and write texts that are developed in a particular pattern.

The remaining lesson in this module are about critical reading and writing evaluation of readings. You will learn about several critical reading skills for you to make the most out of your reading.

Speaking is a natural ability given to most reluctant individuals. Since the beginning of time, it has been assumed that we have a right to speak and use words, thus we naturally begin our development of language during the early stages of live. After years of grasping and perfecting our vocabulary and language, it seems unnecessary to study the purpose of our development. Why, then, should we study “oral communication?” There are many purposes, benefits, and institutions that branch from oral communication. Of course, communication is the basis of interaction with other individuals through the use of expressions and words; however, through studying oral communication, one can take the words and expressions being used and apply them to his or her own life. After all, the most effective and useful knowledge is applied knowledge. Interaction is a significant part of our daily lives. Oral communication with others is inevitable, and therefore it is crucial for us to acquire the skills to do so correctly. Aside from simply stating words or expressing ideas, oral communication serves various purposes. Oral communication allows an individual to express emotions, ideas, and feelings; it gives people the ability to empower, inspire, and motivate those who listen; and it allows people to share knowledge and traditions, as well as build their self-esteem. Oral communication is also useful in leading us to new discoveries, ideas, cultures, and perspectives (O’Neill). Thus, oral communication serves several different purposes in daily life; yet each of these purposes are connected to an even larger purpose.

People have studied cells for centuries. We know exactly what cells are made of, from their DNA and RNA to the watery cytoplasm to the lipids and proteins that make up the membrane.

Shouldn’t we be able to make an artificial cell by combining those ingredients in a test tube?

So far the answer is no. Making a cell from scratch is not as easy as mixing eggs, butter, flour  and sugar to bake cookies. Although we know which chemicals are essential to life, we cannot simply blend them and wait for living cells to appear.  That’s because life is an emergent property of interacting molecules. These intricate relationships are extremely complex, and no one has ever controlled the participants with enough precision to craft a living cell.

If biologist ever do learn to make artificial cells, they could have practical uses. For example,  with the right DNA, the cells could be coaxed to churn out biofuels, vaccines, and many other products.

Why is there a need to study religion? Religion has been in existence since the earliest time of humankind. Wherever humankind inhabits, religion too exists. Presently, we are all witness as to how religion continues to play crucial roles in world politics in the twenty-first century as can be seen from the various political conflicts that have their roots in religious differences. This particular chapter will introduce you to various concepts related to religion, expound on the origin of religion, and evaluate the many roles played by religion in people’s everyday lives.

In all parts of the world, religious ideas have helped inflame animosity and discord that shape conflicts and give rise to oppression and tyranny. Conversely, religious traditions have also created a strong backbone that helped shape the importance of peace, justice, equality, toleration, and brotherhood.

In many ways, business is nothing more than math as a spectator sport. It’s like if you dumped the best business school in PH on a soccer pitch and then threw a bunch of Monopoly money out there.

Actually, that sounds really fun.

Anyways, unless you have a very odd sort of business, you can probably break it down into a series of basic math problems. That might not be what you want to do, but it’s something that you could do.

As basic as that may sound, it somehow always seems complicated. Knowing some of the fundamentals of business math will help you stay ahead of the competition.

This course introduces students to the mathematical concepts and applications necessary for successful business careers.

ICT (Information and Communications Technology - or Technologies) is an umbrella term that includes any communication device or application, encompassing: radio, television, cellular phones, computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems and so on, as well as the various services and applications associated with them, such as videoconferencing and distance learning.

Empowering the World with the use of technology. We're so lucky because the technologies are present everywhere it help us to make our work quickly and accurate. It is timely updated and always upgraded. In this generation, technology has many uses and important role to our lives and what we all to do is to empower it by doing some things that have value or good benefit to us by the use of gadgets and computers.

Empowerment technology is important , especially to the millennials to prepare, to teach the value and to introduce them/us to the proper world of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) and also, of course to teach us the proper etiquette of using it and not the way where people use it in violence that could end up someone else’s precious life.

Biology is the science that studies life. What exactly is life? This may sound like a silly question with an obvious answer, but it is not easy to define life. For example, a branch of biology called virology studies viruses, which exhibit some of the characteristics of living entities but lack others. It turns out that although viruses can attack living organisms, cause diseases, and even reproduce, they do not meet the criteria that biologists use to define life.

From its earliest beginnings, biology has wrestled with four questions: What are the shared properties that make something “alive”? How do those various living things function? When faced with the remarkable diversity of life, how do we organize the different kinds of organisms so that we can better understand them? And, finally—what biologists ultimately seek to understand—how did this diversity arise and how is it continuing? As new organisms are discovered every day, biologists continue to seek answers to these and other questions.

This module intends to introduce essential concepts in the conduct of an inquiry, investigation, and immersion to senior high school students. The conduct of an inquiry requires that it be done in a scientific manner and in a highly objective atmosphere. Moreover, the success of an inquiry will rest on your ability to identify a research problem, to strategize how to approach such problem, and to communicate the outcome of the investigation. As such, you will initially be introduced to the underlying concepts and principles associated with an investigation as presented in Lesson 1.

Toward the end of this lesson, you will have  a deeper appreciation of the role and importance of an inquiry in economic progress and technological advancement, in the formulation of  national policies and law, in the protection and preservation of the environment, and in the uploading of the welfare and safety of mankind. This will also serve as a reference material about results-based management (RBM). Though this is not the universally accepted tool to effectively manage a research program, RBM has been adopted by several governments including research funding institutions to be able to effectively monitor and manage various programs implemented across several nations. To ensure the integrity and reliability of the inquiry,

Lesson 3 presents certain principles associated with some research norms as well as those generally perceived as “research misconduct”. It is therefore, essential that a researcher observe certain ethical practices in conducting research projects.

Lesson 4 covers technique in preparing an effective review of related literature. This is one of the most critical stages in an inquiry especially when applying for a research grant. The novelty of the expected output is effortlessly emphasized when an effective review of related literature is prepared. Lesson 5 shall test the extent of your understanding of the basic concepts of inquiry or investigation. The culminating activity will involve the preparation of a research proposal.

A research is important undertaking as it presents new knowledge and technology essential in solving a wide range of problems. The success of any inquiry or research eventually contributes to economic progress and advances in technology. As the saying goes, “All life is an experiment. The mor experiments  you make, the better”.

Hence, in Lesson 6, you will execute planned research activities to generate target output.

Lesson 7, on the other hand, deals with the processing of experimental data and, consequently, extracting information. You will be introduced  to some important statistical methods useful in testing your hypotheses. Lesson 8 and 9 cover basic guidelines in relation to communicating the results of your inquiry. The culmination of the research process as illustrated in Lesson 1 is publicizing the  outcome of the inquiry. A truly remarkable and outstanding scientific contributions should withstand constructive and meticulous evaluation by the scientific community prior to the acceptability of that new knowledge or new technology into the social mainstream.

This module consists of 4 lessons wherein each lesson is developed through the following phases:

MOTIVATE – provides an overview of what you should understand in the lesson. This includes clear directions and purpose of the lesson. This also states the expectations in line with what you should know, understand, and be able to do, produce, or perform to show there is transfer of learning. It activates your prior knowledge and prepares you for higher level tasks.

ORGANIZE – presents the main reading or literary text and the activities/ tasks that lead you to acquire knowledge, make sense of, and construct meaning out of the information and experiences contained therein.

VALIDATE -  includes activities that will expand, enrich, enhance,  and broaden your understanding of the target concepts and skills. It also presents the real life-based product or performance task as final output for the lesson that serves as evidence of understanding of the target concepts and skills. This is an enabling task for the main real life-based product or performance task covering the entire module.

ENGAGE – enables you to express your insights, learning, and realization on the lesson. This part contains prompts and other   organizers that will help you sum up and synthesize what you have learned.

This module will equip you with the basic concepts associated with the performance of a scientific investigation. Careful and diligent planning must always be undertaken to ensure the success of any research endeavor. The research process was discussed in detail for you to follow through and to recognize the various facets of a scientific inquiry, More than the skills and knowledge pertinent to the conduct of a scientific inquiry, you must be able to imbibe upon yourself the ethical principles germane to research such that you will not commit any research misconduct in the course of doing research. Research is regarded as an academic and highly scholarly pursuit; its results must be credible, valid, reliable, and transferable.

General chemistry (sometimes called "gen chem" for short) is a course often taught at the high school and introductory university level. It is intended to serve as a broad introduction to a variety of concepts in chemistry and is widely taught. At the university level, it is also sometimes used as a "weed out" course for disciplines (sometimes related, sometimes not) which are perceived to require a high level of intellectual rigor or large course loads. It is also one of the few chemistry courses in most universities that does not explicitly explore a particular discipline such as organic chemistry or analytical chemistry.

General chemistry courses typically introduce concepts such as stoichiometry, prediction of reaction products, thermodynamicsnuclear chemistryelectrochemistrychemical kinetics, and many of the rudiments of physical chemistry. Though the list of subjects covered is typically broad, leading some to criticize both the class and the discipline as encouraging memorization, most general chemistry courses are firmly grounded in several fundamental physical rules for which the primary challenge is understanding when the rules are applicable.

We live in a world full of innumerable laws and theories! Why? Because since the earth began to exist, our world, even the universe, has this so-called predominated laws, which are intelligently designed by the Great Designer, to observe in order to maintain their harmonic and interconnecting movements within the distinct multifarious objects and matters in the dark limitless horizon of space and time.

Concurrently, we give so much credits to the brilliant minds of our classic and modern physicists that are enlisted in the history page of our planet. Through the laws and theories they have found out and formulated, we can now vividly comprehend why things happen this and that. All our wondering minds can now fathom the astounding revelations of the things around us. And we can only understand all these things through the aid of Physics.

Indeed, Physics has a titanic repertoire of formulae that would unravel that mysteries of the world and the universe we live in. But take note, they seem so easy to use and understand when we try to love investigating events. So, join me as we travel through space and time with Physics!

The Creative Nonfiction (CNF) genre can be rather elusive. It is focused on story, meaning it has a narrative plot with an inciting moment, rising action, climax and denoument, just like fiction. However, nonfiction only works if the story is based in truth, an accurate retelling of the author’s life experiences. The pieces can vary greatly in length, just as fiction can; anything from a book-length autobiography to a 500-word food blog post can fall within the genre.

Additionally, the genre borrows some aspects, in terms of voice, from poetry; poets generally look for truth and write about the realities they see. While there are many exceptions to this, such as the persona poem, the nonfiction genre depends on the writer’s ability to render their voice in a realistic fashion, just as poetry so often does. Writer Richard Terrill, in comparing the two forms, writes that the voice in creative nonfiction aims “to engage the empathy” of the reader; that, much like a poet, the writer uses “personal candor” to draw the reader in.

Many posit that the "applied social science," or the application of social science theory and the social science research, is a natural consequence of the need to address social issues from a multidisciplinary backgrounds; thus, it takes on many forms.

The demands for the disciplines in the applied social sciences are constantly driven by real world conditions. Because of globalization, demographic shifts, and changing economic and social conditions, individuals and communities have to increasingly address the demand or bear the strain of a rapidly changing world. The application of the social sciences in investigating and addressing real-world social concerns and problems could make an impact on people and their communities.

As we endeavor to understand the disciplines and ideas in the applied social sciences, we will also strive to address communal issues such as caring for mentally and physically disabled individuals and to advocate policies to address marginalization, the aging population, social injustice, civil liberties, and human rights. After all, the application of the social sciences in investigating and addressing real-world social concerns and problems make an impact on people and their communities.

Ethics is the branch of philosophy concerned with the meaning of all aspects of human behavior. Theoretical ethics, sometimes called normative ethics, is about delineating right from wrong. It is supremely intellectual and, as a branch of philosophy, rational in nature. It is the reflection on and definition of what is right, what is wrong, what is just, what is unjust, what is good, and what is bad in terms of human behavior. It helps us develop the rules and principles (norms) by which we judge and guide meaningful decision-making.

Business Ethics

Business ethics, also called corporate ethics, is a form of applied ethics or professional ethics that examines the ethical and moral principles and problems that arise in a business environment. It can also be defined as the written and unwritten codes of principles and values, determined by an organization’s culture, that govern decisions and actions within that organization. It applies to all aspects of business conduct on behalf of both individuals and the entire company. In the most basic terms, a definition for business ethics boils down to knowing the difference between right and wrong and choosing to do what is right.

Accounting is the language of finance. It conveys the financial position of the firm or business to anyone who wants to know. It helps to translate the workings of a firm into tangible reports that can be compared. So it is essential that we know the meaning of accounting.
